Love Cornwall 2008 is a challenge to all the churches of Cornwall – big, small, all denominations and none, traditional, radical, New Expressions, young, old – a challenge to work together for God – focusing not on the things that divide Christians but on the faith and hope that unite us. It is a challenge to bring the good news of the Gospel, the promise of eternal life and a real relationship with God through the saving power of Jesus Christ back into the consciousness and mindset of our culture and country. It is a challenge to bring back hope to a society which is sinking ever deeper into materialism, cynicism, disappointment and despair. Hope ’08 is the blanket name given to a challenge to all the churches of the nation to engage in mission across Britain in 2008. Love Cornwall is the ‘Hope 08 champion for Cornwall’ This time the Duchy is in the vanguard not the rearguard. We got there first! Love Cornwall was actually launched as a pilot scheme in 2006 in response to a challenge to launch a programme of outreach in only three months. We thought it was impossible but when God challenged us with his help we did it, and where churches came together to work in mission across their communities peoples’ lives were changed. The churches themselves were changed and all manner of wonderful things came to pass.
