When Jesus called his first disciples he called them to ‘fish for men’ - to make more and more disciples of Christ. Yes, disciples learn to pray, learn and practice the teachings of Jesus, endeavour always to walk closer and closer with God - but Christ’s great commission to all his followers remains paramount - ‘Go out and make more disciples!’
This document is written primarily for the Methodist congregations of Cornwall, many of whom are small and ageing., meeting in nineteenth century buildings in the rural communities and little mining or fishing towns of Cornwall. There is a strong Methodist heritage and most look back to the halcyon days of the past when the vast majority of Cornwall’s people were Methodists and the chapels were thriving centres of religious and community life.
