Promote Fair trade, Make Poverty History, Recycling and Ecological awareness. Christians are often labelled as 'hypocrites', always after our money, 'religious', 'holier than thou', old fashioned and out of touch. Actually many of today's ethical campaigns have been pioneered by Christians. Let's make sure that the contemporary church stays in the vanguard, leading the way in matters of ethical concern. This is God's world. Let us show that we value creation and care for this planet and for all God's people. Remember what the prophets say - 'Let justice and fairness flow like a river that never runs dry' (Amos 5:24)
You could try doing an ongoing service for your community during 2008. It could be keeping the centre of your town or village free from litter, planting flower boxes at the front of the chapel to make it look colourful and cared for - or it might be a much bigger project - running a coffee shop / post office in your church hall for a couple of mornings a week for example.
