IDEAS FOR SOCIAL EVENTS
INDEX

Remember that the aim of events like these is primarily to get to know people to give them a good time in a Christian context - to genuinely become friends!

Try a 'Christian' barn dance. Barn Dances are fun! Anyone with two feet, even two left feet, can join in, given reasonable mobility - and it can be fun to watch if you really can't dance. Bring your neighbours; bring your family and friends - Christians and non-Christians both... Don't have an 'evangelism break'. If you want to have an epilogue make sure people can leave before it without feeling awkward if they wish. There are Christian callers who will do the whole thing for you. Just provide a venue, get the event advertised. and sort out the refreshments.

What about a Matthew party. Remember how Matthew invited Jesus and his new friends to a party with his old friends? Issue invitations to your home or to your chapel and just have fun together. Incorporate a quiz maybe, where questions involving a simple knowledge of the Bible are mixed with questions of sport, politics, popular music, general knowledge. Or play one of the 'What would you do in this situation?' games which involve people making moral choices even if only about mythical, unlikely or plain silly scenarios!
