Some of you will have experienced 'On the Move' BBQs. Always done ecumenically barbecue food is given away in town centres. Tables and chairs are set up; there is street drama and music groups present Gospel music. Local Christians are there to talk to the people who participate about God's love and care. Think how this idea can be developed in your community. In a village a free cream tea on the playing fields may be more appropriate, maybe with sports event for children, or a bouncy castle. If your church has extensive grounds you could stage it actually at the chapel. Invite a good music group or choir to perform, have a whole trail of games for the kids - croquet, skittles, goal shoots, challenges etc. - make it a whole afternoon of fun and games - but in the chapel itself you could have a display of the Christen story or the sweep of Bible history or exhibitions of the work of the church in contemporary culture. Some people will drift in to look!
